TJR Song of the Day: Lee Morgan - "Trapped"

I have been ridiculously short on time recently, thus the lack of any regular vintage vinyl postings, so let’s try something new and easy: some great jazz tracks I’m digging that I think you’ll enjoy as well. Sharing jazz music can only make the world a better place!

Let’s kick things off with “Trapped” from Lee Morgan’s 1968 The Gigolo (recorded in 1965), featuring Morgan on trumpet, Wayne Shorter on tenor, Harold Mabern on piano, Bob Cranshaw on bass and Billy Higgins on drums. Written by Morgan, it is a bright and bouncy hard bop tune that is bound to brighten up any day. Leave any thoughts you might have in the comments below, and - most importantly - enjoy the music!

For the vinyl nerds: recorded from my original 1968 Blue Note copy, with “A DIVISION OF LIBERTY RECORDS, INC.” and Van Gelder stamp in the runoff.
